Water, Water Everywhere
Sure, there was water water everywhere in AquaVenture Water Park, a Caribbean amusement park with a water theme, but don’t you worry, there is plenty to drink and a lot more to frolic in! We were in Paradise Island near Nassau in the Bahamas to spend a week at Atlantis, a huge resort village on Paradise Island. It is an enchanting place, with soaring towers that overlook the ocean, lush gardens dotted with pools and white sandy beaches to remind you that you are in the Caribbean, after all.
Unlike the usual Caribbean vacation of beachfront hotels, water sports like scuba diving and snorkeling, banana boats and hammocks on the beach, we wanted something different, something more interactive for the children. Atlantis has a Dolphin Cay, where they can interact with the Atlantic bottlenose dolphins in shallow waters and even touch and swim with them., Walking through the tunnels and passages of Marine Habitat, they stared wide-eyed at the huge variety of marine life on view.
The water slides and rides in AquaVenture Park had them shouting and screaming with joy most of the time. They loved the lazy river ride, and the Current, which took them over rapids and into underground tunnels. The Mayan Temple’s rides were a big hit with them too. Going from one ride to another was no bother as we were simply propelled along waterways to the next ride to jjoin the queue.
Besides these, this Atlanttis resort in the Caribbean, has a shopping arcade, a casino and plenty of restaurants to choose from. There was a theater too, where children were completely engrossed in the shows, We spent most mornings by the pools, swimming and playing. The kids pools near the fountains allowed them to frolic without any fear in waist deep water and there convenient chars on the deck from which we could watch over them, if we didn’t want to swim.
